WHAT WE DO

Education through mother tongue

It is a well – known fact that people who learned primary education through their mother tongue are more confident, indulgent in social activism, achievers and accommodates in the journey of life. But in Tamil Nadu, the primary education in the mother tongue is very less or we can say it is almost not existing. The main reasons for this scenario are the attraction on the English language and globalization. Because, as the higher studies are in English, people are being brainwashed that they can get higher scores only if they study in English from the beginning. Private schools and the media are doing this job efficiently.

This delusion will disappear only when you realize that English is only a language, not knowledge. In a justice denied society, education is very essential for sustainable peace and social development. That education should not be an education just for academic grades but if it is an education through the mother tongue with the combined platform of students, parents, teachers and Tamil community activists students will rise up with skills. It will give many advantages of making them elevate themselves from poverty and maintain justice for common people.

Seventy years ago UNESCO has listed out the benefits of education through the mother tongue. It is miserable that the number of beneficiaries is very less.

The most prominent benefit of education through the mother tongue is parents will be talking more with the teachers and accompany their children’s learning.
